Hartley County Attorney, M. Shane Turner, presents Sheriff Franky Scott and Hartley County Deputies with new badges in appreciation of the department’s assistance in the prosecution of crime in Hartley County and the Dalhart area. With the dedicated assistance of local law enforcement, including Sheriff Scott and his deputies, Turner’s office has successfully prosecuted hundreds of misdemeanor and juvenile cases and collected over $85,000.00 in civil restitution for the merchants and citizens of Hartley County. The badges were purchased from fees assessed to and collected from hot check writers. The Hartley County Attorney’s office will collect full restitution on behalf of Hartley County merchants and citizens who are victims of hot check crime free of any charge to the merchant. The County Attorney’s office will also provide materials to aid merchants in the collection of hot checks.
